Race and Bar Fighting in West Virginia

The corporate media has been beating up on West Virginia lately calling us "racist". Rabbit has been around a bit and the most racist place I have ever been is Not WV. In fact American "High Society" is one of the most racist groups in the world. These are rich people with power so the media doesn't mess with them. The media IS them. West Virginia is poor and the people here are not nearly so pushy or "PC". The perfect target for our canibalistic media.

Locals are used to the steady influx of tourists . Even so, I don't think half of them know anything about jews or muslims.Nor do they care. We have one black family in the county and I undrestand they have the respect of the community. You have to ask why they would stay if they weren't treated right. Over in Pendelton County there is a nice town in a valley all owned by blacks. You'd take your life in your hands to call them names in the local bars.

Skiing, golf, kayaking, trout fishing and mountain biking are not sports that a lot of blacks participate in but once in a while I see some here so I always wave or smile at them because I know that they are surrounded by us crackers. (Mountaineers are habitual wavers. We like people to feel at home.) Seriously I don't think it's as racist as it could be. About the same as in D.C. Idiots may talk shit in the bar after a few drinks but I've never seen anyone act out or treat the blacks that show up here in a bad manner.

The trouble starts when an outsider messes with the local women or acts snooty. That's against the rules. If you want to break the rules you might have to fight. Don't matter what color you are. We have bars here where fighting seems to be part of the ambience. I saw 8 fights in one night at a bar and I left early. Some fellows from the next town will come out and want to fight with our town's fellows which makes for some interesting entertainment. They fight over women or fight just because mountain life can be boring and they need the excitement. Ladies will fight here too. Beautiful women who will punch you in the eye if you don't mind your manners.

Outsiders who try to pick up local women can expect to leave with a bruising. I once sent 5 guys who came here for a golf tourney to a bar that had a reputation as a fighting bar. I warned them but they wanted to go. They were big guys all dressed up in their golf duddies, flashing money around. They got stomped. Hey, I warned them not to go. People here are smart. They know when they're being disrespected. So, I just supplied my neighbors with entertainment as they talked about kicking the golf guys' asses for weeks. Cool.
